Monopoly Key Ring Dog
Gadget No. 0713
There's nothing quite like a bit of classic British antiquity in your pocket. You know, the smack of leather on willow. The hearty 'Hear Hear' of the House of Commons in full flow. But because you can't exactly take these with you when you're out and about, you'll need to find something equally reminiscent of long Sunday childhood afternoons. Which is where this dashed dinky Monopoly Key Ring Dog comes into play.
Exquisitely rendered in nickel plated zinc, the dog is a precise replica of the original from the legendary board game. Making him a Highland Terrier, as far as one can tell, not unlike Greyfriar's Bobby. But that's another story. Only this time he's attached not to a dog collar but a sturdy chain and key ring, guaranteeing a lifetime of loyal service.
Now listen up and get a pencil and paper ready to jot down some facts. Monopoly is the most played commercial board game in the world. And it's no surprise, given its fiendishly addictive qualities, that 750 million people have played it since it was first patented by Charles Darrow in 1935. Originally American in invention, it was licensed for the rest of the world (that's us) by Waddington's, who cleverly changed the US placenames to famous London streets and landmarks including Leicester Square and Fenchurch Street Station before its UK launch. Right. Pencils down.
