Bop It, daddy-o to the fiendishly challenging beats from this rather splendid multi-player interactive party game. The Bop It Download - an odd name, we grant you - had us getting down and generally giving maximum respect to the laser at gadgetshop HQ the other day, until Geoff strayed to close to a hot soldering iron and burnt a hole in his tank top. That put an end to that. Never mind. Back to the Bop It, the core objective of which is to keep time with the beats by pressing a sequence of buttons as the tune evolves. But that's easier said than done when the tunes keep on getting faster and you've had a few sherbets, as Geoff will attest.

With no fewer than 15 different levels, it will have you and your chums a-boppin' until the wee small hours, as the infuriation grows and a burning addiction develops inside you. It's not so much about hand-eye coordination as hand-ear coordination. Try getting Darwin to evolve that. The old Bop It had its limitations, particularly when it came to the number of pre-stored tunes. So now, when you tire of its funky sounds, simply download some, err, 'phat beats' from the comprehensive Bop-It site via the conveniently-located USB port- or plug in a microphone and be your own human beatbox. Now that is fric-a-fric-fresh.
