For no-one, it seems, has given much thought to the perennial male problem of misguided late-night urinary activity. Put a man in an unfamiliar place, it seems, and he'll pee anywhere. Down flights of stairs. Into antique wardrobes. Into dog bowls. Think we made those up? Just ask your chums (and their fathers).

Quite simply, if he's in unfamiliar surroundings or isn't fully awake, your average man thinks that every dark corner is a loo. Which is particularly challenging at night, when every corner is a dark corner.

Now, thanks to some particularly inspired gadgeteering, a solution is at hand, and it's a dashed clever one at that. Think of it as a little landing strip for your toilet. When affixed to the underside of your toilet lid, proximity sensors on this revolutionary device instruct a set of tiny LEDs to glow whenever they see a body approaching.

Glowing red when the seat is up and green when it's down, they'll guide one into position for a Number One with discreet light that won't catastrophically rouse you from your slumber - and will keep your little lady happy the next morning when she deals with the consequences.
