Do excuse us. We are currently preparing for the annual gadgetshop HQ staff play/dinner dance, which this year has an ever-so-slightly ghoulish theme.

Needless to say there will be all manner of freaks and fools on display (Mrs Gadgetshop is coming as Elvira Mistress of the Dark, which requires her to undertake very little preparation) but you can guarantee that our colleague Simon will grossly misunderstand the invitation and turn up dressed either as a tart or a vicar.

Anyway. As part of one's dedicated and highly thorough preparation for the event itself, we have acquired a whole almighty swarm of these little fellas - a squadron of highly mobile remotely controllable vampire bats. Spiffing.

With flapping wings, complete manoeuvrability, a stabilising tail to help novice vampire flyers, and glowing eyes to boot, they're a dream to zoom indoors... and even better when the lights go down. Take your bat out of doors, however, and it is capable of swarming to an altitude of 100 feet, well within range of the local crow population.

The remote, as is the way in these matters, also acts as the base station and charging unit, offering a simply splendid ten minutes flying time from a simple 20-30 minute charge. Simply pop it on and power it up.

Then it's you. The night. And your very own vampire. Mwah-ha-ha-HA-HAAAAAA. Oh do put a sock in it.
