Every so often a new device comes along that stops all the testing here at gadgetshop HQ and renders us all a touch dumbstruck. So it is with the remotely controlled VTOL Jump Jet, a gossamer-light flying machine that takes off like a chopper but swoops like a plane. Get it? Got it? Good.

Although this contraption is best for expert flyers and will take a good deal of dexterity to perfect, don't let that put one off... especially as it can be used in the wind-free conditions of an indoor environment (ie your spare bedroom) to hone one's flying skills.

Four (count them, four) gyroscopically balanced rotors, a swept-back delta wing shape and delicate tail-fin help one keep control of this featherweight beast.. and the results are simply stupendous, enabling one to fly in almost any direction and perform some breathtaking takeoff manoeuvres.

No other indoor aircraft we've tested (and there have been some considerable number) can match the Jump Jet for versatility, stuntability and sheer 360-degree exuberance, as it happily takes off and lands in the vertical, and turns on less than a sixpence.
