Now look here and let's be frank about this, men. This turntable isn't just a turntable. Oh goodness gracious no. It isn't even just a USB-enabled turntable with a nifty smoked-plastic lid. It's a whole digitizing and archiving solution in a box that outwardly looks as though it's a space age version of an old Sanyo Music Centre. Permit us to expand and expound.

The TTUSB05 - why 05 we don't know and didn't like to ask - is a complete vinyl resurrection centre. It works like this: attach the USB dongle directly into one's PC or Mac computer. Find that old Bruce Hornsby and the Range 12" single you have been keeping since 1986. Lift the lid - or 'dust cover' as it is more properly known - and hit start. The arm will magically glide on to the spinning disc beneath, creating a contact between the cartridge and the tiny grooves on the surface of the disc, thus relaying the ensuing vibration to an amplifying device for your aural pleasure. And it does this all without the need for a laser. Amazing.

Once captured on your hard-drive, Bruce (and his Range), or your own collection of infinitely more tasteful vinyl sounds, will even be available for editing, de-hissing and de-clicking using the Audacity software package that comes bundled with the device.

And, yes, unlike many cheaper, nastier USB turntables, this rather groovy little number comes complete with a standard RCA line output for connecting to your stereo or home theatre system, thus enabling you to use it like, err, a turntable; static, jumps, fuzzy warmth and all. Magic.
