In the highlands of Scotland, they have a funny old name for their powerful and world-beating firewater. They call it the water of life. Which is an odd little monnicker for a drink that can have you under the table in minutes and make your liver swell to the size of Buckinghamshire. Odd indeed.

So when this item arrived in the lab here at gadgetshop HQ for evaluation, we simply had to stand back and laugh at its sheer audacity. It is - expressed simply - a drinks dispenser in the style of one of those plastic hospital bags one would normally expect to see filled with blood or saline solution on the wards of Holby City.

It's the truly authentic look and feel of the thing that truly did it for us; it comes in full medical garb, with a full set of genuine looking technical bits and bobs. All the rubber stuff (for fetish fans) and all the technical knobs and knockers (for gadget buffs). All one then needs to do is fill it with one's favourite imported Australian lager (as brewed in Burton-on-Trent or Denmark) - or more potent brew - and dispense away.

For those of us with a healthy respect for the power of the bottle, it's a joyous and practical joke for those friends who might need 'reviving' after a serious night out. All one needs now is a naughty nurse to do the serving. Marvellously disturbing.
