Mr Men Stressball Keychain - Mr Happy
Gadget No. 0543
Deep in the bowels of gadgetshop HQ, between the particle accelerator and the wind tunnel is the Receiving Room, where all new gadgets and devices are stripped of their packaging, then logged and described before being sent to our experts for painstaking analysis and evaluation.
It's usually a place of quiet and patient professionalism - until, that is, the Mister Men and Little Miss Stressball Keychains arrived, when a scuffle not seen since the Cabbage Patch Doll craze took place as our esteemed colleagues battled to grab the favourite character from their childhood.
I quickly made off with Mr Happy, a character so unbelievable positive and perky and upbeat that the City of Glasgow, not previously known for its love of yellow, adopted him as their emblem throughout the 1980s along with the catchy slogan 'Glasgow's Miles Better'. Mr Happy beamed accordingly.
Now the smiling yellow one has been reincarnated as a cute and practical portable stressball, he can take pride of place on your keychain and spread the joy wherever you may venture.
From the stable of the late, venerable (and much lamented) Roger Hargreaves, this fetching little number features in an ultra-nifty set of Little Misses and Mister Men destined to bring a touch of nostalgia to bear on a modern keychain. Reeking of some of the most memorable kids' books and TV of the 70s and 80s, buy one of these and you'll be hearing Arthur Lowe in your head for days. Oh yes.
