If you think yourself too cool for school and would rather not partake in childish games of throwing, catching, dropping, picking up and throwing again, then where on earth have you been these past few years?

As technology has moved on apace, playground games have been left far behind. Welcome, then, to the future of, err, throwing. And catching.

Cosmic Catch is a passing game that's light years away from those hazy sunlit days of your early youth, when all one had was a tennis ball, 10p for some chips and an old copy of Shoot! Magazine for company. Now, with the invention of the integrated circuit, the tennis ball of old has become an intelligent device capable of speech. All of which is rather nifty.

To the game, then, and it's for between 2 and 6 players, each of whom must wear one of a set of differently coloured hand bands. If it sounds odd, it's not. Read on.

The fun starts when the ball is thrown and it begins to issue commands - your challenge is to follow them to the letter, remembering your own colour (and that of everyone else) without getting caught out.

What's the catch? There isn't one. Unless you've got your eye on the ball, that is. Totally cosmic. And completely outtahere.
