Trust us. You'll like this one, if you're given to outbursts of celebration, spontaneity, alcoholic indulgence... or just like to show off a little. The Champagne Parachute conjures-up a visual treat and, it has to be said, leaves little to the imagination. But the final result is an impressive feat, with several laws of motion, dynamics and pressure in play all at once.

The device works by housing a reusable plastic parachute contraption inside what might be called a plastic 'launch tube' which is affixed to the side of one's bottle. A pin-sharp, err, pin, then attaches from the parachute to the top of the champagne cork. Then the countdown begins as the pressure builds deep inside the bottle.

Finally - at the orgasmic moment of release - one's champagne cork powers from the bottle and into the air, taking the parachute with it, enabling it to elegantly glide back to terra firma, rather than bounce all over your living room, taking out your sister-in-law's eye. Or at least, that's the theory.

In truth, for maximum impact this is best performed outdoors on a calm day, where the cork and chute can travel some distance before performing the most edifying of descents. Thus leaving the bubbly intact - and there for the drinking.
