The pleasure of sowing, nurturing and cultivating a beautiful plant from a simple seed is one of life's many blessings and one that turns us otherwise hardened technologists at gadgetshop HQ a touch weak at the knees.

The Crack & Grow Eggpot makes mincemeat of making baby plants and simplifies the grand art of the late Percy Thrower, beloved of the Blue Peter Garden. In fact, Percy would probably be turning in his grave if he could hear us talk.

Expressed at its simplest level, the Eggpot is a uniquely large egg-shaped pot containing all the organic gadgetry you need to grow your very own pet plant. Soil. Tick. Seeds. Tick. Tray. Tick. All you need is some patience, some love, some light and some water. Easy.

Arriving sealed from the elements, the egg actually needs to be 'cracked' to gain access to the soil-compost mix within. Plant the enclosed seeds 1-2cm below the top of the soil mix, and you're well and truly in business.

All that's required then is a bit of water, a bit of God's natural illumination, and, in time, Spring will be sprung. Marvellous.
